Josip Šarić was born on February the 25th 1957 at Zemun where he finished elementary and grammar school and he lives there even today. He graduated in archeology from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, and there he recieved his Master's degree and his Doctorate. He works as a research fellow in Institute of Archeology in Belgrade.
He is been in photography since his student days, though with the gap of several years. But with the coming of the digital camera, he returned to photography as a counterbalance to his everyday work in archeology.
